Tara Dobec has received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Law and Psychology and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa in 2001. She started practicing in the Crown Attorney’s Office and never looked back. She has worked in various offices in Ontario and was able to settle back in her hometown, Ottawa, in 2008. She has acted as the Domestic Violence Lead for numerous years but found her passion for dealing with animal abuse cases after prosecuting a high-profile case. Since that time, she has prosecuted as many cases of animal abuse as she can get her hands on. She regularly lectures on issues of animal abuse to the Ottawa Police Service, university students, Crown attorneys and for the National Centre for the Prosecution of Animal Cruelty. She has developed training material for the Ontario’s Ministry of Attorney General. She is the proud parent of two wonderful children and two fur baby cats. She has been busy during the pandemic socializing a backyard feral cat that now walks right inside her house and watches tv on the couch.
