                                                    Jan Hajek, MD, FRCPC, is an infectious disease specialist at Vancouver General Hospital and a clinical assistant professor at the University of British Columbia. His clinical work concentrates on global health, tropical diseases, and the treatment of severe bacterial diseases among people with substance use disorder and homelessness.
Dr. Hajek is also particularly concerned about zoonotic infections and has front-line clinical experience with pandemic diseases. He worked in Ontario during the 2003 SARS outbreak, in Newfoundland during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, in West Africa during the 2014 Ebola outbreak, and this past year has been working on the COVID-19 ward at Vancouver General Hospital.
