Parliamentary Strategy in Offices of Senator Dalphond & Senator Klyne
Marty McKendry is a lawyer and parliamentary advisor to two Progressive senators, the Honourable Pierre Dalphond and the Honourable Marty Klyne. In 2020, he worked with former Senator Murray Sinclair to draft and introduce Bill S-218, the Jane Goodall Act, now sponsored by Senator Klyne. He also worked with former Senator Wilfred Moore to draft and advance Bill S-203, the Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins Act, law since 2019. In his career, working for both Government representatives and independent senators, Marty has worked to advance many successful federal bills relating to animal welfare and environmental protection, including C-84 (animal fighting and abuse); C-68 (fish habitat protection and shark fin ban); C-55 (Marine Protected Areas expansion); and C-12 (net zero emissions by 2050). Marty has also worked to support legislation relating to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, particularly Bill C-15 (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples). Marty has a Master’s degree in philosophy and a law degree from the University of Toronto.
