Dr. Jennifer Mather is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Lethbridge. She is fascinated by the invertebrate animals of the ocean, with a particular interest in the cephalopod molluscs--octopuses, cuttlefish and squid. She has spent a lifetime studying their behaviour, with a special focus on their cognition, or how they learn, think and plan. Because of her appreciation for their intelligence, she has also become active in advocating for their welfare and the welfare of the under-appreciated invertebrates.
