Description

A shift towards community-based programming was already happening, but the pandemic increased the need and the urgency to have these programs available for the vulnerable populations in our communities. Hear from organizations who have stepped up their food bank strategies and services since the pandemic and are moving to long term service delivery.

Speakers will focus both nationally, reporting on the increasing need for pet food banking across Canada and different emerging models, as well as touch on specific methods to develop and maintain a food bank presence in your community. We will share how to use this programming as an introduction to accompanying outreach programs, increasing partnerships with community services and how you can share your successes with your supporters.

Finally, we will share the efforts underway to create a strategic national pet food banking system to ensure vulnerable families and their animals can stay together during crisis or emergency.

Key Learnings:

1. Four ways you can offer food bank services to your community
2. Tracking food bank stats to onboard funders and share successes with the public
3. Lessons learned in food bank programming during COVID-19 that can improve programs in a post-covid environment
