Description

Even the best animal shelters are largely reactive. They take in large numbers of homeless, lost and abandoned animals and work to get them out of the shelter institution alive - through adoption, rescue placement and being returned to their owners. What if there was a way to change how we operate animal welfare organizations could meaningfully address and solve the root causes of why animals enter shelters in the first place? The Human Animal Support Services project is a collaborative effort of more than 500 animal welfare experts, 40 shelters and 36 working groups that are aiming to do just that. In the process, we're learning big lessons, making revolutionary change, and helping animals and people stay together during this difficult time. In this session, you'll learn about the HASS project and learn about the 16 project elements and how you can easily implement them in your organization. Topics covered include high volume foster care, intake-to-placement, getting more lost pets home, field services/animal control of the future, and pet support call centers. Want to reduce your intake by up to 50% and reduce your average length of stay in shelter to ten days or fewer? Join us for this fast-paced, interactive session!
