Anabel Kearley is a rising senior at the University of Maryland, College Park where she is majoring in Psychology and double minoring in Spanish and Nonprofit Leadership and Social Innovation. Anabel developed a passion for animal welfare at a young age. In high school, she participated in service learning at The Maryland Zoo and was a volunteer at the Baltimore SPCA.
Anabel is currently an intern at the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) in the Department of Animals and Family Violence. At AWI, she develops social media content, manages data, and recently contributed to an animals and family violence-focused manuscript that will be submitted for peer review.
Through her psychology training and experience interning at AWI and the University of Maryland, School of Social Work, Anabel has developed proficiency in research design as well as data collection, analysis and interpretation with both qualitative and quantitative data. She has also developed software experience with R, Qualtrics, Canva, Excel and Jamovi. In the future, she hopes to combine her interests in animal welfare, psychology, and research methods to develop informed strategies and policies to improve the lives of animals.
