Description

Take this time to connect with Kim Gramlich, Coordinator with Delta Police Victim Services Program during the Justice Facility Dog Break and meet her facility dog.

Kim Gramlich is the Coordinator of the Delta Police Victim Services program in Delta, British Columbia.  Kim’s first accredited facility dog, Caber, was the first Victim Services Justice Facility Dog in Canada and the first dog to accompany a testifying witness to court in BC. Caber has now retired and Kim is partnered with a lovely Golden Retriever named Puma. Puma provides critical supports to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma.  In her role as Accredited Facility Dog as Delta Police Victim Services, Puma provides unconditional care and support to persons affected by trauma, assists victims who are struggling to communicate, accompanies victims when giving statements to police or when attending court to testify, respond to critical incidents within the community and provides cathartic touch that human responders cannot always provide.  With her dogs Kim also participates in disaster deployments including the Fort McMurray fires and mass casualty responses including the Las Vegas Route 91 shooting, alongside the Office for Victims Assistance at the FBI.

Caber and Puma came from the Pacific Assistance Dog Society who breeds, raises and trains assistance dogs for various roles.  PADS is located in Burnaby BC and serves nationwide, www.pads.ca
