Speaker Bio
Dr. Sara Dubois has worked to improve the lives of animals for two decades, through rescue, research, education and advocacy. Dr. Dubois graduated with a B.Sc. from the University of Victoria (Biology) and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. (Animal Welfare) from the University of British Columbia.

At the BC SPCA, she leads four teams of science and policy experts as a national leader in evidence-based programming for the animal welfare sector. As University of British Columbia's Adjunct Professor, Dr. Dubois teaches an applied animal biology course year-round to involve students in hands-on practicums working with all animal types.

Her own experience volunteering and later managing a wildlife rehabilitation centre involved her in the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned mink. However, it was participating in cruelty investigations of mink fur farms in B.C. that opened her eyes to the inherently inhumane practice and lack of protections for all animals in fur farms.
