Do you feel like you're the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff? Working harder each year, with only marginally improved results? Sadly, it is unlikely that animal welfare units are going to make significant, sustainable impact on our communities or their animals by doing the same things we are doing, just a little bit better with a little less resource each year.

The future of animal welfare lies in improving human behaviour, and that requires an understanding of how and why people make decisions or choose particular behaviours. Then we can design policies, laws, interventions and education that are designed around the way that people do work rather than the way we would like them to.

This presentation will introduce you to the theories of human behaviour change, why it is very different to simply educating, and how to ensure that your animal welfare organisation is maximising the likelihood of genuinely and sustainably improving the behaviour of your communities.
